i've been excited about learning board games. daddy got out his book of board games and so far i've learned checkers, roundabouts, hasami shogi, hoppers and brax. it feels good to win, and you need to enjoy it. because you can't win all the time.

- what was your favourite part of this book?
- the ending. i like how they rescued him off of the fire escape.
- of all the people that found ribsy, who do you think took the best care of him?
- the last person, larry. mrs. frawley was nice, but she got him to do stuff that he really didn't want to do.
- what would you do if your pet got lost?
- i would probably call the people who made ribsy. they might have some ideas. or i might call the pet fish farm, if it was bluey or dorothy. maybe if i lost a bird, i would call beverly cleary.
- do you think that ribsy is realistic? do dogs think that way?
- no. i think that because in some parts he knew human language, like what mrs. frawley said and i'm pretty sure that dogs don't know words.

- henry.
- what would you say to convince someone to read it?
- the dog is really funny.

there's good and bad things about robots
you see before robots were invented, if people lost hands or arms they needed to have a hook that didn't work very well. but now they can have an electronic arm that can do most of the things that a regular arm can do.
but there are bad things about electricity. it takes energy that the earth needs and uses it just for people.

today i opened a door into my heart.
my robot likes to lift weights and get stronger. he is conversational, not a fun robot that plays games. my heart is his.
from having this robot i have learned that i don't need a lot of toys. my robot was the only thing i played with today. it is all i need to be happy. i prefer things that are small and simple and delicate. for christmas i want small simple delicate lego things, handmade crafts, and underpants.

tonight i made a trick for the tooth fairy. i taped an orange seed to a nice pink card with a cutout of a tooth. i got daddy to write "dear tooth fairy. i lost a tooth. this is my first lost tooth. i'm really excited for you to come. this is a tooth. enjoy my tooth. i do not want money. love from forest. ps. there is another card in this envelope with my list." the other card is shaped like a tooth. i would like a ninjago, candy, a woodburning kit, a christmas craft or fruit.

papa gave me this simple machines building kit for my birthday. it comes with an activity book to learn all about cams and cranks. ted and i built the humanoid together, then daddy and i built the eagle.

- but this is about a very long story. it had no chapters.
- what was your favourite part of this book?
- the ending, where the family gets another kitten. because then elephi was finally happy. you see the book started with a very smart lonely cat, and then at the end they got a silver kitten from some children and they were going to deliver it first thing in the morning. isn't that wacky?
- do you think this story could actually happen?
- i do not think so. because no car could fit in an apartment. and especially the car could not talk.
- if our van could talk, what would it talk about?
- it would talk about car races. or talk about the cars movie.
- would you like a pet cat?
- i don't think so. because mama would not like a cat.

- yes.

i got a world explorer craft kit. so far i have made a chinese lantern and a dreamcatcher. i really want to make the papier-mache pinata next.

- what was your favourite part of this book?
- well, you see, it was about these grown-ups, these adults that the only thing they did was play mean tricks on each other. my favourite part was at the end when their heads got glued to the floor.

- i don't.

- because it wouldn't be fun.
- are you planning any tricks?
- nope. {pause} well. . .maybe.

- i think so. maybe. daddy, is it real?

fire hall visit and story.
today we visited the fire hall. i think this is the best thing we did today. we got to meet chief kirby. he was really nice. always remember to stop, drop and roll if a fire catches on you. always know two ways out of every room. people, listen to this! we went in a fire truck. it was really cool. all together, a firefighter's gear weighs 45 pounds. firefighters are volunteers, so i can be a firefighter and still be an astronaut or robot factory worker.
here is an alien firefighter story about zoombloss. one thing about zoombloss is that he always wanted to be a firefighter. he is great, actually. he's been working as a firefighter for seven years nonstop. his friend pear-la-tron helps him. one time they had to rescue an earthling. they were very frightened of earthlings. they didn't know what earthlings were. earthlings, they said, had very sharp, very pointy fangs and they ate blood from aliens. and they had very pointy toenails and fingernails, almost like razors and they were afraid that the nails would dig into pear-la-tron's beak just from touching. zoombloss said "i don't think we should go, pear-la-tron." pear-la-tron said "i feel the same way."
but they went anyways.
they went to earth. zoombloss was afraid that grass was dangerous because he had never seen it before. so he ended up flying over the grass in his ufo. his spaceship looks like a hamburger. he crashed right through the roof of the earthling's house. he was afraid that the house was dangerous so he ended up flying through it. he was afraid that cupboards were dangerous so he ended up smashing them. he was afraid that shingles were dangerous so he ended up breaking the whole house.
the earthling had actually been tricked by the fire alarm because her alarm was very sensitive so that when it smelled the fireplace it went off. after all the smashing, the roof fell on the earthling and she had to go to the hospital. the ambulance had to come. zoombloss was too afraid of the earthling so he didn't take her to the hospital.
remember, everybody. do not behave like zoombloss the firefighter.

i made a lego zombie and wrote a song about it. soleil does a dance and then goes back to reading.
smoothie recipe
the three banana split
ingredients:
3 bananas
10 ice cubes
brain food [ground flax seed]
milk
1 scoop cocoa
1 capful of vanilla
some honey
mix together in blender. enough for me and dae-dae to share.
try it and tell me how you like it.

faz - silly, crazy ideas. one time she threw all this stuff off the roof including a radio.

faz - one time she eats pie constantly. she never eats vegetables or anything that is healthy for her.
daddy - would you like nanny piggins as a nanny?
faz - yes. she would be a good one, who would let me eat all of my halloween treats.
daddy - what would do with boris the ballet dancing circus bear if he lived in our garage.
faz - i would probably make seventeen roofs. because he is scared of the dark and might break the roof in an emergency.
daddy - what did you think about the ending of the book?
faz - i hated it. because open ending = me sad. make sure to use an equal sign in that.

i finished my preschool level two class today. i got a report card and coady wrote that i've really improved.

teddy bear clinic
tonight at beavers we met a paramedic. we saw his stretcher and his kits and the ambulance. i didn't bring a teddy bear for the clinic so i borrowed one. daddy interviewed me. my bear had strep throat and wouldn't eat anything and couldn't get better because he wouldn't eat medicine and we didn't have any liquid medicine.

faz - be careful. use basic shapes. don't draw anything smaller than your thumb. use a saw like on a swiss army knife. it works better.

mama needed to mail some stuff. so we tried orienteering. daddy and i made a map of the neighbourhood. i drew a different shape for every special place we would find. i rode my scooter and made punches with the hole punch when i found the spots. one place was the coffee shop, mama bought me a foamy milk with chocolate drizzle.

i missed having communion at church on sunday. so today i scooted with mama and dae-dae to victoria park. we went to the woods and had communion. i want to start my own church outside.

today we were looking at the 20th century art book. i like asking "what makes this art?". i like hearing the descriptions of how the artist made the art. i don't like abstracts. photographs are not art. piles of junk are not art. art is supposed to be paintings, drawings and sculptures.
for me i want to make sculptures with no model or plan. i want to just start and make a wooden sculpture with all that scrap wood in our garage.

faz - look at this here! it's a ship! uh-oh, there's a propeller on it!
daddy - a propeller on the ship, oh no!
faz - waaaayyyuuuuuhhhh!
daddy - you're acting agitated. is that propeller somehow dangerous to you?
faz - well, propellers on boats can kill manatees. they can chop right through you.

faz - weeeeellll, my flippers have little fingernails on them.
