rudolph's shiny new year

this is the outline of the plot.  the baby new year is missing.  who is going to help father time on his search?  santa is, of course.  but he doesn't have a light bright enough.  so he calls on his little reindeer rudolph to do the job.  since the night is so dark, rudolph has to search hard to find father time's castle.  after he finds the castle he must find the baby new year.  he goes to the island of great despair where the evil vulture lives.  if the vulture doesn't get there before the new year has begun he will turn in to ice and snow.  who will find him first?

funny

i got a chickadee magazine from the library.  then i did the fill-in story, which is a recipe.

My Delicious Slime T-shirt Pudding
Serves about: 2009 people.
Cooking Time: 7 hours.

Chop up two dried rulers.  Pour the chopped rulers and a cup of robot juice into a toad figurine.  Place on top of stove and let it come to a boom boom boom.

When it is finally glossy, add in one ant hand.  Use a wooden shovel to karate kick the mixture.  Add a pinch of zoombloss alien to taste.

Pour everything onto wet wipes, then bake in the spaceship until it is silver.  Set your violin for 130 minutes.  Let it sit until November.  Enjoy!

i have my own everyday workout. here are a couple items to help you have a workout without going outside every day. it will be healthy for you.

jump on the cushions 30 times.

the importance of beaver scouts vs. the importance of new tails

beavers investiture ceremony was tonight. beavers is very important to me. i have a white tail now. it means that i am growing up and it is my last year of beavers. everybody cheer hooray for me.

geronimo stilton

- we've read about fifteen or so geronimo stilton books. what has been your favourite so far?
- 'secret of cacklefur castle'. because it was great.

- who is your favourite regular character?
- geronimo. because he is boring. that makes him funny. he's always getting dragged places he doesn't want to go to.

- will geronimo ever be less of a fraidy-mouse?
- no. because he is always scared.

- do you know anyone who reminds you of trap, geronimo's cousin?
- soleil. because she is ridiculous.

- many of the books are set in real locations around the world. where would you like to go?

i like tiny things

i bought a nanoblocks set with my allowance. this is the tree frog.

there were extra pieces, so i built a baby tree frog.

and neuschwanstein castle. papa will love to see this.

and a micro baby luigi. from mario games.

tooth fairy

i had a loose tooth. i was eating pomegranate seeds. they were crunchy. when i was done the bowl, my tooth was missing. i ate my tooth.

adventure

we discovered sea foam for the first time. go and find some yourself. go to brackley beach right now. while you are at it, take a quick dip in the warm soothing water. just plunge in.

optometrist

i went to the eye doctor. i don't need glasses yet.

save-um central

look at the picture below. the robofingers are the things on the chains. look at the little guy on the roof. his name is foo. the guy in the front with the rectangle head is noodle. the guy i haven't been talking about, behind noodle, is custard. this set is the save-ums sub chopper.

i am designing my own harry potter lego.

these are the baby wizards. on the left is lord valdemort, in the middle is a dementor, and on the right is sirius black.

if you were to run away from home, what would you pack?

i would get the cup of money and dump it in my wallet. then i would put all my lego in my suitcase. and open the fridge and take everything i like.

the tin woodman. in every way. i don't know how to explain it because it is so perfect.

do you think oz made it back home?
yes. i think he will be happy to be a normal person again.

in the palace of oz in the emerald city. then i would be king. but i wouldn't wear the green glasses.

what would you do with the golden cap that summons the winged monkeys?
first i would ask the monkeys to bring all the lego in the world back to my house. next i would ask them to bring me everything i could ever want. then i would ask them to bring me a genie. good one, huh? awesome! then i would ask the genie for never-ending wishes. [giggle]

today's plot outline - another story about the astromech king

now back to the story of the astromech king. this is the king of the droids, the astromech with the spike on it's head. an astromech was created by chancellor palpatine [before he became emperor]. it met r2d2. then r2d2 made him king of the astromechs and crowned him with the spike. he is a jedi master now, and king. look below to see a picture of him battling with now-emperor palpatine in a battle between light and dark. see also one of the emperor's droids, a jawa and yoda. do you see the spaceship behind the astromech? that's a tie fighter.

my best set i ever made

look, i made up this cool set called the ace assault. the ace assault has a fire blaster, and three detachable weapons. see if you can spot them for yourself in the picture. jay the ninja is holding his green spear with spikes on it and his pet lightning-bolt named sparky.

i also invented another set called the destiny's bounty. i want to make a stop-motion movie with my sets.

the day i found quartz in a normal sandstone park

the quartz-hunters. these are their stories.

i found a quartz in victoria park. i polished it in a cup with water and an old toothbrush. now i'm putting it on display. did you know that each piece of quartz is worth money? you SHOULD know that. find some and take it to a jeweler to know how many dollars it is worth.

electrician again

i installed a new light switch with only a little bit of help from daddy.

we learned about food groups. here is a meal i made with toy food. it has all four food groups. and a cupcake.

conkers

we learned from my rupert book and from charlie and lola about the game of conkers. conkers are the nuts from the horse chestnut tree. don't eat them. they are poisonous. my friend has a horse chestnut tree in front of her house. she collected a big bag of them for me. then we played the game. here's a video that shows how to play.

uncanny valley

we were learning about the uncanny valley. the more robots look and act like people, the more people like them. but then when robots are a little too human, some people think they are scary or creepy. i'm going to build the first robot on the other side of the valley. i'll build it out of mindstorms.

posterity box

we were reading a paddington bear story where he makes a posterity box, which is like a time capsule. if i made a box i would put in it six empty lego set boxes. i wonder what they would look like in a few thousand years.

we got a chalkboard

we found a big chalkboard on the side of the road. we put it on our wall. here are some pictures i drew.

there was a lantern walk at the 'art in the open' festival. i made one for each person in my family. instead of candles we used tiny flashlights from the dollar store.

i learned about fruit flies and made a trap using a bowl, plastic wrap, apple cider vinegar, dish soap, and a toothpick.

i went to my friend daniel's birthday party. i formed a band with some other kids. i wrote a song called "jabba the hut smells like cheddar in your closet in the middle of the night."

we went to visit friends in the country.  at first i was scared of chancey the dog.  then we were wild together.  i tried to get back to daddy through the beach grass, but it hurt my feet.  so we went through the water together.

teeth

i have my first loose tooth.  also, i went to the dentist for a checkup.  my favourite part was the x-ray.  i also liked having my teeth poked with the explorer.  i got to wear sunglasses and watch bert and ernie's great adventures.  next time i will ask them to turn the sound on.

moving bird

flash-sisk seemed lonely so we moved him to the dining room. i didn't want to move the craft supplies, but i want him to be happy. he likes to listen to the bird song radio station.

role play

today we invented a game called 'investment banking'. i started a pretend lemonade stand business. daddy was the bank. soleil was all the customers. i borrowed money to buy lemonade. then i sold it to soleil. i had to pay back the borrowed money, plus a little extra. but i sold enough that i got to keep some. mama was a customer too.

babies

today i held baby chicks.  i want to have two chickens for pets.  that's all i need.

i climbed on scaffolding and walked across it.  i want to overcome my fear of heights.

stage

i wrote a play called "witch versus elves".  i said every word and daddy typed it out.  then we proofread it.  it is like a fairytale because you can change the words and do it a different way every time.    you can read it here.  we performed it once in our living room.  mama was the audience and the voice of the witch.  daddy and i were the elves.  soleil was the princess and the mermaid.  we are going to perform it again.   you can perform it at your house.

community garden

`we planted all our garden seeds. i loaded compost in the wheelbarrow, hauled it to our spot and dumped it out all by myself. then i filled the watering cans and carried them. i turned up the hose too high and it was flying in the air.

we got some new modelling clay.  i made lots of things.  here is a man, a chair and a tree.

pretend dentist

soleil had another dentist appointment today.  to help her get ready i pretended to be a dentist.  she laid down in a chair.  i put a heavy blanket on her.  then i took some pictures of her mouth with our camera.

roof day

we went to our friends house.  they live in an apartment on a roof.  i played with a cat using a laser pointer.  it was kind of like bullfighting - seeing how much time the cat could still stay on his feet and chase the light without catching it.

i wondered why cats like to chase lasers.  so we read this article.  then we played with the biomotion lab and learned about the wolfpack effect.  you should too.

busy

i built a nuthatch hatching station out of lego.  then i helped daddy at work, and went to play at a friend's house.  at beavers we made a mother's day bouquet and played a take-care-of-baby relay.

today

i prepared my own snack. i played lots of math games. we went out for supper and i got a spy kit, then i did all the activities.

we went to blooming point beach and collected rocks, shells and driftwood.  i found my first piece of sea glass.  and a walking stick.  maybe it was from the titanic.

thirsty work

at beavers we went to the dream park in cornwall.  we forgot water at home.  now i know why kids do not go for adventures in the desert.

what i'm thinking about today

harry potter lego goblins are really cute.  there is a set with goblins called Gringotts Bank.

at the library there is a book with all the harry potter lego, but we have to leave it in the reference section.
